(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A confrontation with the singer of a band at Decatur, Alabama’s New Frontier Club resulted in the nightclub’s owner accidentally striking a a bystander with a baseball bat.
The melee began when the singer punched club owner Jeffrey Ken Hitt in the eye during an argument, police told the Decatur Daily. Hitt and the singer then went to the parking lot.
Hitt told police that he pulled the baseball bat out of his vehicle in case more band members followed, outnumbering him.
A witness to the event, apparently also with the band, was struck with the bat when he went outside and tried to prevent a fight. It is unclear whether the victim received any medical attention, but he did not intend to press charges, according to the police.
A person called the police from the club, and reported that a man fitting the victim’s description had walked outside with a gun. No firearms were found at the scene, however.
In February, Hitt was arrested by the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control on charges of obstructing a government operation, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest during an inspection of the club. Agents cited the club for allowing criminal disorderly conduct and for not having the person in charge listed on a sign. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
