No Pemberton Festival For 2009

PEMBERTON, B.C. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Fans who were hoping for a return of Live Nation's successful Pemberton festival will be disappointed as the promoter has announced that the event will be on hiatus this year.

"We will not produce the Pemberton Festival this summer due to the fact that the necessary permits were approved too late in the year for us to effectively book talent. We are moving forward and focusing on 2010," the promter said in a statement.

The festival made its debut last year in Pemberton, B.C., with a bill of acts that included Tom Petty, Jay-Z and Coldplay. The festival drew crowds in excess of 40,000 and while considered to largely be successful, there were logistical challenges such as limited parking and traffic issues on the rural roads in the area.

The Live Nation hopes to bring the festival back in 2010 and the agreement the promoter has with government of British Columbia gives them rights to stage the festival at the site for 9 more years. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
