OCESA/CIE put together a record breaking weekend in Mexico City the first week of November, staging concerts with Paul McCartney and Peter Gabriel at separate venues. The shows were booked by New York based OCESA Presents, and were promoted locally by OCESA Entretenimiento in Mexico City.
McCartney performed three sellout shows on November 2-3 and 5 at Palacio Deportes, setting a new box office record for the venue with $4,787,210.95 USD ($47,201,900 MXP). Across town, Peter Gabriel also sold out three shows on November 3-5 at Auditorio Nacional.
Altogether 80,991 Mexican fans paid $6,355,439.66 USD ($63,041,010 MXP).
"It is our shining moment thus far," said OCESA Presents CEO Bruce Moran. "The performance by Sir Paul McCartney was absolutely amazing, and Peter Gabriel is a wonderful live performer. Sir Paul finished his North American tour with us and Peter began his current concert tour with us in México. It's a distinct honor."
