(CelebrityAccess) — Olivia Newton-John has pulled out of her U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates scheduled for June after doctors discovered that she was suffering from cancer.
According to a post on her social media, the performer withdrew from the dates after seeking medical treatment for back pain which caused her to delay her concerts in May. According to Newton-John, doctors discovered the pain was caused by breast cancer which has metastasized to the sacrum, a triangular spinal bone in the lower back.
Newton-John is slated to undergo a brief course of photon radiation therapy and says she is confident she will be able to return to the road later this year.
"I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” says Olivia Newton-John.
Newton-John said she will announce rescheduling information for the affected dates in the upcoming weeks.
