Oshawa Secures New Naming Rights Partner For General Motors Centre

OSHAWA, Ont. (CelebrityAccess) — The City of Oshawa announced that Ontario real estate developer Tribute Communities has agreed to be the new building sponsor of Oshawa’s sports and entertainment arena which is currently the General Motors Centre.

Under the 10-year naming rights agreement, the General Motors Centre will become the Tribute Communities Centre, effective November 1, 2016, the day after their ten-year agreement with General Motors expires.

“We would like to thank General Motors of Canada for their commitment to our city as well as investing in our sports and entertainment facility for the past decade. We are very appreciative of General Motors’ support as it helped enable the facility to be recognized internationally as a premier facility,” said Oshawa Mayor John Henry. “We would also like to welcome Tribute Communities who is a great community partner and has helped grow our amazing city. We are looking forward to working together to continue to build the profile and success of the new Tribute Communities Centre.”

The 7,300 capacity arena opened in 2006 and currently serves as a home to OHL team the Oshawa Generals. Upcoming concerts include Our Lady Peace on Oct. 28th and Dierks Bentley on January 27th. – Staff Writers
