A new 3,500 square foot main stage for the August 24-26 Philadelphia Folk Festival gets underway this week with completion just in time for the 40th annual event on the Old Pool Farm near Schwenksville, Pa.
Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, David Bromberg, Janis Ian, Richie Havens, Dave Van Ronk, Chris Smither and Jimmy Johnson will be among the first artists to perform on the new stage, to be known as Martin Guitar Stage in honor of the C.F. Martin Co. of Nazareth, Pa., a longtime supporter of the Philadelphia Folk Festival.
