Pink's Latest Album, Tour Hit Big In Australia

SYDNEY, Australia (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Pop singer Pink's latest album "Funhouse" has come in strong on the ARIA chart, snapping up the #1 spot in its first week and the singer is also looking to break her own box office record with strong sales for her forthcoming tour.

According to Billboard, ARIA's listing "Funhouse" as selling 86,273 units in its first week, stealing the top spot from AC/DC's "Black Ice."

Pink's forthcoming arena tour, which kicks off in Perth on May 22 for 27 dates, is meeting with a similarly warm response and more than 250,000 tickets have been sold since they went on-sale on October 31st.

Pink's numbers fly in the face of general trends in the Australian markets. In the face of the global financial crisis and a weak Australian dollar, Australian promoters have been forced to renegotiate a number of tour deals and several major tours by artists such as Paul McCartney and Green Day have postponed planned tours until late 2009. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
