Rape Charges Added For Journey Drummer

PORTLAND Ore. (CelebrityAccess) — Deen Castronovo, the drummer for the rock band Journey, has hit with a variety of charges including rape and is being held without bail in the Marion County Correctional Facility.

Castronovo stands accused of assault, unlawful use of a weapon, rape, sexual abuse and coercion, among other things.

The 50-year-old Castronovo had previously been arrested on June 14th and charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal menacing. At the time, he was released on bail and instructed to avoid contact with the unnamed victim. The new bill of charges is in addition to the previous charges.

Castronovo has been with Journey since 1998, when he replaced Steve Smith.

Journey is currently on the road with their next gig scheduled for July 4th at Stadium of Fire in Provo, Utah. They announced on June 18th that veteran drummer Omar Hakim would be filling in for Castronovo on upcoming u.S. dates. – Staff Writers
