TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (CelebrityAccess) — The Tuscaloosa City Council is reportedly poised to renew its 2013 contract with Red Mountain Entertainment, keeping the company as the booking agent of the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater through September 2018.
According to the Tuscaloosa News, Associate City Attorney Grant Wilson on Tuesday confirmed to the city’s public project committee that the original three-year agreement was eligible for extension, but added that the city would open up competitive bidding for the contract in 2018.
City Council officials lauded Red Mountain for their work at the amphitheater in 2016, with Councilman Kip Tyler characterizing it as “by far their best season ever".
Gary Weinberger, the president of Red Mountain Entertainment, thanked the committee for its support on Tuesday, citing the city's support as key to expanded show offerings at the amphitheater.
“Last year, coming and meeting with you was a great, positive wake-up call for us,” Weinburger said. “The mayor met with you guys and you created some broader parameters on what you were willing to do to go out and get bigger and better acts, and we heard that loud and clear.” – Staff writers
