Rosen Lobbying For LN

WASHGINGTON D.C. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Numbered among the Washington hired guns the Live Nation & Ticketmaster have brought aboard for their upcoming anti-trust battle is a name that may sound familiar – Hilary Rosen.

Rosen, who was formerly the president of the RIAA when the label association pursued its strategy of suing consumers, has of late been a managing partner at the D.C. office of London lobby shop, the Brunswick Group. Brunswick has been handling Live Nation's external public relations efforts, the New York Post reported.

According to the Post, Rosen has already enlisted the lobbying firm Public Strategies to start making the promoter's case to lawmakers. Rosen is a veteran of the Washington scene and is known to have close relationships with many Democratic members of congress.

"She knows all the players in Washington and knows how things work," an unnamed source close to the matter told the Post.

Rosen's tenure at the RIAA marked one of the most controversial periods in the trade association's history. Many critics have claimed that the strategy developed at that time, of suing downloaders backfired, alienating consumers. After her departure from the organization in 2003, Rosen has expressed her agreement with this assertion. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
