Rural Roots Announce Country Winners

LE MARS, IA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Rural Roots Music Commission has announced the winners of their 2010 awards.

The Commission was formed nearly 10 years ago out of dissatisfaction with modern country music.

"With the 'system' the way it is today, country music doesn't have a single 'connect' to what country music once was," explained Sheila Everhart, one of the Commission's directors, according to the press release.

The Rural Roots Music Commission was formed as a subsidiary to the National Traditional Country Music Association, which was formed in 1975 to produce their first agricultural life-style and music festival in 1976 as a Bicentennial celebration.

The Commission focuses on traditional or classic country, bluegrass, and folk music.

The awards will be made at the 35th annual National Old Time Country Folk & Bluegrass Festival and Contest at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars, Iowa, August 30-September 5.
