Saxon: No One Individual Owns the Rights to Group's Name

The High Court in London has ruled that no one individual member of the group Saxon has the legitimate right to use the Saxon name. Mr. Justice Laddie ruled that the name it is in fact an asset of the Saxon partnership. There are two bands performing at the moment – Oliver/Dawson Saxon, which features Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson and Saxon, which features Biff Byford and Paul Quinn. Both acts, while sharing a common ancestry, are separate entities, and both have a legal right to the name. The original Saxon no longer exists, as the lineup of Oliver, Dawson, Quinn, Byford and Gill are no longer performing together.
