Shakedownfest Cancelled At Last Minute

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — There were many disappointed music fans in Oregon this weekend in the wake of the cancellation of Shakedownfest, a scant three hours before the scheduled gate opening. The festival and campout, slated for the weekend of August 26 & 27 had been originally planned at Horning's Hideout Campground, but had been moved to Columbia Meadows in St. Helen, OR.

Over 16 bands were ccheduled to appear, including Galactic, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Medeski Martin & Wood, Sage Francis & Soulive

There has been some debate between the venue owners, Lowell Macgregor Group LLC and the festival promoter Hal Abramson at Stylus Shows:

In a long note on the Shakedownfest Website, Abramson, who could not be reached for direct comment, wrote that "Just prior to 1pm PT on Thurs. Aug. 25, Lowell MacGregor (Lowell MacGregor Group (LMG)- the people we rented the property from), approved of his attorney calling ours and stating that the show was officially canceled. He shut down our music festival 3 hours before it was scheduled to start at 4pm when early entry was to begin."

Eric Mayer with LMG told CelebrityAccess that "Suffice it to say, for now, that if Hal had the money he claims he had, the show would have happened. By contract (which he was not forced to sign) he has to pay specific deposits prior to the show and he was to "at all times maintain sufficient funds to cover anticipated expenses" which according to his lawyer, he did not have.
After his not showing at the venue Thursday morning, and the remainder of his staff leaving site, if not outright fleeing, the show cancelled." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
