Shawn Mendes, Ricky Martin Postpone Mexico City Concerts Following Earthquake


(CelebrityAccess) — Ricky Martin and Shawn Mendes have both postponed upcoming concerts in Mexico City following a devastating earthquake that killed more than 200 people.

The 7.1 magnitude tremor which struck Tuesday, left widespread damage, with rescue efforts to pull people from dozens of collapsed buildings still underway.

Mendes, who was to perform in Mexico City at the National Auditorium on Wednesday, posted a notice to his social media that the concert had been postponed. Mendes is currently on the road playing arenas with his "Illuminate World Tour."

“My deepest condolences are with those affected by the earthquake in Mexico today. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances, we will be unable to continue on with my Mexico City show scheduled for tomorrow. My love is with all of you, and I promise I will be back,” Mendes wrote.

Ricky Martin also postponed his Sept. 20th show in Mexico City, taking to his social media to tell his fans.

"To my beloved Mexican people, first of all, I want to tell you that today, more than ever, I am with you in soul and thought. Due to the unfortunate events that occurred and the current difficult situation in Mexico City after the earthquake, I have decided to postpone my concert scheduled for September 20th in the Zocalo, you have a new notice. I send a lot of strength and my solidarity to each one of the people affected," the singer wrote.
