LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Simon Cowell, best known to Americans for his tenure as a judge on American Idol, has joined the judges panel of his hit show America's Got Talent.
In addition to his new role as a judge, Cowell also serves as a producer and was one of the creative minds behind the show.
Cowell will step in for shock jock Howard Stern, who had previously served as a judge for the show. It has not been revealed if the show's other judges Howie Mandel, Mel B and Heidi Klum will be returning to the series.
"About five or six years ago, I was offered the chance to be on the show and, at the time, I couldn't do it. But I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't able to," Cowell told USA Today.
"I think at the point we really knew Howard wasn't going to come back, we then had serious conversations with NBC. I thought, 'I think this is the right time.' I'm excited about it." – Staff Writers
