Slipknot Concert Cancelled

PENNSYLVANIA (CelebrityAccess)–Slipknot were forced to cancel a show in Pennsylvania on Saturday (30Jul16) due to a power outage caused by severe weather.

The heavy metal rockers were due to perform at the open-air First Niagara Pavilion in Pittsburgh after their opening act Marilyn Manson, but his set was blighted with technical problems due to heavy rain and lightning and the power was knocked out after only five songs.

The concert was delayed while crew attempted to fix the issue, but after 90 minutes it was announced the whole show had been called off, angering around 9,000 fans who were largely unaware of the reason behind the cancellation, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"Due to the power outage tonight, we are unable to continue the Slipknot concert," representatives for the venue posted on Facebook. "We apologize for the inconvenience. Information regarding the show being rescheduled and/or refunds will be communicated within 48 hours here or the Live Nation website."

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor tweeted, "To everyone at the PA show tonight: I'm SO SORRY we couldn't get the power back on. I promise we're going to do our best to reschedule," before writing to a fan, "We were waiting for power and apparently it's out all over."

The rescheduled concert was falsely advertised to take place on Monday (01Aug16) but Taylor insisted it was untrue and they would be reorganising another show in the coming months.

They aren't the only band to suffer power problems recently. Dance trio Major Lazer's set at Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Illinois blew the generators and power cut out twice on Friday (29Jul16).-Staff Writers
