Smashing Pumpkins Planning Live Return At European Festivals

CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The long-rumored return of the Smashing Pumpkins appears to be coming along smoothly as a post on the band’s MySpace page revealed that they plan to return to the stage “at some European festivals this summer.”

The live concert return, their first show since December 2000, will come along with their forthcoming LP, produced by Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars).

“We are four songs deep and about a hundred guitars in,” drummer Jimmy Chamberlin wrote on the website.

So far, the only known members of the reunion are Chamberlin and frontman Billy Corgan, as the status of original guitarist James Iha, original bassist D’Arcy Wretzky or replacement bassist Melissa Auf der Maur is unknown.

No title has been revealed for the new album, the first since 2000’s “MACHINA/The Machines of God.”

Corgan debuted several new songs at a low-key show with The Who guitarist Pete Townshend on November 7th in Los Angeles. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
