SMG: First Mariner Bank Unlikely To Renew Naming Rights Deal For Baltimore Arena

BALTIMORE (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Frank Remesch, the general manager of 1st Mariner Arena said he believes that First Mariner Bank is unlikely to renew their naming rights sponsorship agreement for the 14,000-seat arena.

“I have a feeling they won’t be back, that’s just my gut,” Frank Remesch, general manager of the SMG-managed arena told the Baltimore Business Journal. “I don’t know if it’s going to go in that direction.”

The Journal reported that SMG retained a marketing firm in December to secure a naming rights partner for the facility and Remesch said that several firms had expressed interest. The previous ten-year deal, which is due to expire in June, saw First Mariner Bank pay $6,250 a month for naming rights at the arena.

While a continued agreement with First Mariner appears unlikely, Remesch expressed his interest in keeping the bank involved at the stadium.

“We’re hoping we’ll still work something out with First Mariner so they will still be a partner here,” Remesch told the Journal. “But it may not be with the naming rights.” – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
