(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Venue management company SMG has announced that it has struck a deal to operate the 7,200-seat Hampton University Convocation Center located in Hampton, Virginia.
The arena hosts the university’s basketball teams, as well as concerts, family shows, comedy festivals and religious events.
“The University is very pleased and excited with our new partnership with SMG,” Doretha J. Spells, Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer for Hampton University, said in a statement. “We hope that this will be the beginning of a long relationship. We look forward to the diversification of events and the national exposure that SMG will bring to our beautiful facility at Hampton University.”
SMG has named Fred Hill, formerly of the New Orleans Cultural Center and the Louisiana Superdome, as GM of the Hampton University venue.
