LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Legendary spoof rock supergroup Spinal Tap is reportedly looking to adding a new member to the line up, calling on British comedian Ricky Gervais to join the band for this summer’s Live Earth concert.
The band, created for the 1984 rockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap,” are booked to appear at the Wembley extravaganza to benefit global warming on 7/7/07.
Director Rob Reiner and the stars of the band, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer want Gervais have asked Gervais to join them. Gervais befriended Gust after shooting to fame with his own mockumentary-style television show, “The Office,” and he subsequently made a appearance in Guest’s 2006 film, “For Your Consideration.”
Reiner, who also played documentary filmmaker Marti DeBergi in the film, told reporters, “I’m hoping that Ricky Gervais is gonna be there. We’re trying to convince him right now, but Marti DeBergi is definitely going to introduce Spinal Tap.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
