Spirit Catalouge Nets A Threesome

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Spirit Catalogue Holdings has acquired Threesome Music, the song catalog of the award-winning songwriting team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman.

Through the agreement, Spirit will acquire rights to more than 300 songs recorded by such a wide range of artists, including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, Celine Dion and Luciano Pavarotti. Included in the catalog are songs such as Sinatra’s "Nice N Easy", Fred Astaire’s "That Face", chart-topping Neil Diamond/Barbra Streisand duet "You Don’t Bring Me Flowers", Michael Jackson’s "Someone In The Dark", Sergio Mendes’ samba hit "Like A Lover", calypso evergreen "Yellow Bird" and holiday perennial "A Christmas Love Song"

Additionally, Spirit and the Bergmans have signed an exclusive, long term worldwide publishing administration agreement covering new and future works.

The Bergmans got their start in songwriting collaborating with the late Lew Spence, writing for artists such as Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sarah Vaughan and Peggy Lee. Among numerous accolades, the Bergmans have won three Academy Awards, three Emmy Awards and two Grammys. They were inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 1980 and received honorary doctorates from the Berklee College of Music and a lifetime achievement award from the National Academy of Songwriters in 1995. In 1997, they were awarded the Johnny Mercer Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame and, in 2000, the National Music Publishers Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Further, the Bergmans were honored in 2002 by the National Association of Recording, Arts & Sciences (NARAS) with the Governor’s Award and received the first ever Johnny Mercer Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.
