T-Pain Sells 300K iPhone Apps, Launches Contest

T-Pain and developer Smule have moved an impressive 300,000 of his iPhone auto-tune app for $2.99 each ( = $897,000!) and now they've added an amusing contest to boost sales further.

The Contest: Create a video singing along to “I'm on a Boat” and you could win $5,000 cash, signed prizes, even the chance to hang with T-Pain himself. Entering is easy— just capture yourself performing “I’m On a Boat” using Smule’s I Am T-Pain app, upload it to Youtube, and then fill out the entry form on the right of this page link: http://iamtpain.smule.com/contest

The Prizes:

One grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and a Big Ass Chain ($47 value, approximate weight of 10 lbs)

Ten finalists will receive a cash prize of $500 and set of Grillz (gold teeth)

Other cool prizes, including autographed items, will be distributed during the contest. These prizes will go to contestants who make us (the Smule and Nappy Boy teams) laugh the hardest.
