Toad’s Place Of Richmond Opens Its Doors

RICHMOND, VA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The highly anticipated opening of Toad’s Place of Richmond, the sister-club of the legendary New Haven venue, came last night with a performance by Squirrel Nut Zippers for a crowd of 600 people.

The 1,500-capacity club, in the revamped Lady Byrd Hat building in Richmond, Virginia, will feature a diverse line up, similar to its New Haven counterpart, with country, rock, metal, blues and jazz acts passing through.

Hometown bands Lamb of God and GWAR are both playing the venue as the final stop on their tours.

The club will also present many legendary artists, including Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, George Clinton and Ricky Skaggs, in its opening line up.

Other concerts lined up for Toad’s Place of Richmond’s first season include Rooney (June 24), Summer of Love Tour (July 5), Hawthorne Heights (July 12), Mims (July 19), Michael Schenker Group (July 20), Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake (July 21), Slick Rick (August 16), Sam Bush (August 17), JJ Grey & Mofro (September 24), Marty Stuart (September 28), Henry Rollins (September 29), Andrew Bird (September 30), Megadeth (October 1), Zappa Plays Zappa (November 8), Robert Earl Keen (November 13) and Leon Russell (November 17).
