TOURING NEWS: Carly Simon Returns To Concert Touring & Coldplay U.S. Tour Ticket Sales Have A Viral Campaign

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After more than a 10 year absence from concert touring, Carly Simon will return to the stage to perform songs from her extensive catalog and selections from Moonlight Serenade, her latest album, in intimate theater venues in select US cities, including Boston, New York, Indianapolis, Washington DC, Ann Arbor, and Chicago, beginning late November.

Joining Simon on tour are her children, Ben and Sally Taylor, each a successful singer/songwriter/performer in their own right, performing special song selections with their mother during the concert. Ben Taylor will open for Simon each night performing songs from his latest album release, Another Run Around The Sun; Sally Taylor will also open with a few songs.

Simon's upcoming series of concerts are her first live shows since a recent pair of performances on-board the Queen Mary 2 during the luxury liner's transatlantic crossing in September. Those performances were recorded for an upcoming one-hour PBS network television special, slated to air during the December Pledge Drive and will also be released as a full concert DVD on Columbia Records on November 22.

Coldplay U.S. Tour Ticket Sales Have A Viral Campaign

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The November 7 launch of www.talkthetour.com got fans talking about the second leg of Coldplay’s “Twisted Logic” tour and the bands new single “Talk.” In fact, Coldplay fans deserve all the credit for announcing the North American tour. In an impressive example of a viral campaign, within 51 hours the site was forwarded approximately 384,000 times and the 26 dates were revealed.. Developed by Coldplay and the tour promoter Clear Channel Music Group, www.talkthetour.com marks the first time ever that a tour has been virally announced.

Talkthetour.com contained various compelling elements including: a special video message from the band, a map of the United States that progressively revealed tour dates, exclusive buddy icons and forward to a friend capability via e-mail or instant messenger addresses. Anybody who registers at the site and forwards alerts to friends receives the chance to pre-order tickets to the tour and be one of the first to view the online premiere of the Anton Corbijn directed video for “Talk.” One grand prize winner receives front row tickets to a show, the opportunity to meet the band and a trip to the 2006 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. In addition, 25 winners will be chosen for an opportunity to “talk” to the band via a private conference call. As a special incentive to share the site with others, the more times a user forwards the link to the site the more chances they have to win.

On December 7 Coldplay will appear on Late Night with Conan O’Brien for a special two-song performance, and on December 17 PBS’ Austin City Limits will air the band’s hour-long intimate performance.

The band performed at last week’s MTV Europe Music Awards and took home awards for “Best Song” for “Speed Of Sound” and for “Best UK & Ireland Act.” Coldplay is currently up for an American Music Award, nominated for “Favorite Artist” in the Alternative Music category. The American Music Awards will be telecast November 22. “Fix You,” the second single from X&Y, is going strong at Pop Adult radio while third single “Talk” is already exploding at the Modern Rock format.

Coldplay’s X&Y debuted at #1 in 32 countries upon its release in June. It has since sold 2.3 million copies in the U.S., and the album’s first single, “Speed Of Sound,” has been certified double platinum. A Rush of Blood to the Head, the band’s sophomore album, was recently certified quadruple platinum in the U.S. The band has won four Grammy awards and sold upwards of 28 million albums worldwide in total to date.
