Veteran UK promoter Barry Clayman, senior vice president, UK Music, Clear Channel Entertainment, was presented with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to concert promotion and charitable causes by Her Majestey The Queen on November 16 at Buckingham Palace.
"It seems a long way from Stepney, East London (where he grew up) to Buckingham Palace! It's been a very exciting 40 odd years in this business and I still can't believe that I've been honoured in this way,” Clayman commented on the honor.
Clayman has worked in the music promotions business for over 40 years. Clayman started MAM in 1969. He then formed Barry Clayman Concerts in May 1986. BCC was acquired by SFX Sepember 1999, which was later purchased by Clear Channel Entertainment.
Among the roster of artists Clayman promoted over time include…. Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, Michael Jackson, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Rod Stewart, Riverdance and Lucianno Pavarotti.
