LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Shakira is getting ready to hit the road for the start of her forthcoming 2010 tour.
Produced by Live Nation, the North American leg of the tour starts on September 17th at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut and will carry through until October 29th at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. The European Tour, produced by Live Nation, will begin on November 16th in Lyon, France at La Halle and wrap up on December 20th at the O2 arena in London.
Shakira is fresh off of her well-recieved appearance at this year's World Cup, as well as performances at Rock in Rio in Lisbon and of course Glastonbury. She is also slated to perform at the 2010 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony on July 11.
Shakira’s latest hit and the official anthem of the 2010 World Cup, Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) has caught on around the globe, immediately following Shakira’s headline performance at the kick-off concert of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The song became the most vieweed video on YouTube for the month of June and hit #1 on the charts in 15 countries.
Her 2010 outing is being sponsored by Spanish automaker SEAT. As a part of the sponsorship deal, SEAT will be collaborating with Shakira on behalf of her Barefoot Foundation, supporting universal education.
