Mervon Mehta, the son of Zubin Mehta, is the new programming director for Philadelphia's new Kimmel Center for The Performing Arts and the Academy of Music. He was most recently the director of programming and production for the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.
Amphitheater To Get New Name
Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre will unveil its new name and corporate sponsor during a February 6 press conference, according to facility owners Clear Channel Entertainment. A corporate sponsor has been sought for the 18,000-capacity venue since its 2000 opening.
"I think the name will roll off the tongue nicely," Robin Pechota, the amphitheater's marketing director, told the Appeal-Democrat.
Some of the season's talent lineup will also be announced; Dave Matthews Band has already been confirmed for May 21.
Donna Romeo Named Venue Director
Donna Romeo, assistant director of the 2,300-capacity Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City, Georgia, since 1998, has been named director. Romeo has been running the venue since director Kristi Rapson left last November.
The line-up for this summer's weekend concert series will be announced February 15; four new sponsors have signed on for the series.
