Verizon Wireless Takes Naming Rights At New ASO Amphitheater

ATLANTA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra today announced that Verizon Wireless has acquired the name-in-title rights to The Amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, Georgia, and unveiled the architectural design for the new venue—Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park.

Characterized by distinctive architectural and landscape elements, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is designed by architectural firm KKE Architects and landscaping/master planning firm Sasaki Associates.

Scheduled to open in May 2008, the venue will host an array of today’s leading popular artists and a wide range of orchestral, community, festival and family events, broadening the ASO’s presenting opportunities in north Fulton County.

“Music is the common denominator that brings everyone together, and we are thrilled to be the name-in-title sponsor of Georgia’s newest premiere outdoor music venue,” said Jeff Mango, president – Georgia/Alabama Region for Verizon Wireless in a statement. “This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to being a part of the community and aligns Verizon Wireless with what will become the premier destination for musical events in the state.”

Nestled on 45 acres of wooded land outside Atlanta in north Fulton County, Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park will seat more than 7,000 under a roof and another 5,000 on a lawn area. Designed by KKE Architects, the venue will be characterized by its distinctive fan-shaped roof comprised of a translucent cloth-like material and two wide plazas surrounding the venue will feature decorative facades and offer a myriad of dining options for patrons. As part of the extensive landscape design by Sasaki Associates, a number of large heritage trees and other natural surroundings will remain in order to preserve the unique park-like character of the venue. Parking for more than 2600 vehicles will be available in two lots adjacent to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, with additional parking in the immediate surrounding area.

“Our team of Sasaki Associates and KKE—leaders in their industries—have designed an outstanding plan for a unique venue that is well integrated into the existing landscape,” said Donald F. Fox, ASO Chief Financial Officer and Executive-in-Charge, Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park. “Great care has been taken to retain the natural beauty of the site while at the same time creating an amphitheatre of the highest caliber. The partnership between the ASO and Verizon Wireless exemplifies our shared commitment to providing an unparalleled patron experience.”

Scheduled to open in May 2008, construction on Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park will begin in June 2007.
