Warner Music CFO Resigns

NEW YORK (VIP News) — Warner Music Group`s chief financial officer and executive vice president Brian Roberts has resigned, according to a document filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Roberts joined Warner in 2007, after a five-year stint as BMG Music Publishing’s senior vice president, Finance & Administration of North and South America. Roberts served as SVP and CFO of Warner/Chappell Music pervious to being named the CFO of Warner in January 2012.

Warner`s SEC filing did not state a specific reason for Roberts` departure, saying only that he will "take on new opportunities." Roberts will stay until the end of the company`s fiscal year, which will be Sept. 30.

"Over the past few months, Brian Roberts has expressed to me his desire for a fresh challenge," Warner`s chief executive Steven Cooper wrote in an internal memo obtained by Billboard. "I will be very sorry to see Brian go."

Cooper emphasized in the memo that Roberts will remain at the company for several months while a replacement is found.

"Even though nothing will change for some time, and I will have another opportunity to thank Brian for all he’s done, I would like to acknowledge his on-going contributions to WMG," Copper wrote. "As an influential member of our senior management team, the range of his accomplishments far exceeds what the traditional title of CFO would suggest. During a period of rapid transformation, he’s proven himself to be an adept strategist, leader and operator, all the while ensuring we maintain the discipline to nurture our growth."
