LONDON (CelebrityAccess) — EVR Holdings plc, the holding company behind virtual reality music content creator MelodyVR, announced this week that they’ve entered into a multi-year agreement with Warner/Chappell Music.
The deal licenses the VR distribution of Warner/Chappell songwriters’ music and gives MelodyVR access to the music publisher’s significant library of content across numerous European territories.
“At Warner/Chappell, we’re always exploring new technology and looking for new opportunities for our songwriters and their music. Virtual reality is one of the most exciting new areas for us and I’m delighted that we’re partnering with such a pioneering company. We’ll be working closely with MelodyVR to help open up a new market that will deliver additional revenue for our songwriters,” Eric Mackay, Warner Chappell’s EVP of Global Digital Strategy said in a statement announcing the deal.
The deal is the latest in a string of licensing agreements with labels and content companies that include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, and Warner Music Group. As well, the company announced last June that they had struck a global partnership with Microsoft that will see the MelodyVR app deployed across all Windows Windows Mixed Reality devices when it launches later in 2018.
