UGANDA (CelebrityAccess) Kanye West may be in Africa right now to record his album Yandhi but not before he apparently escaped a kidnapping attempt.
Ye, wife Kim Kardashian and their three kids checked into the posh Chobe Safari Lodge on the Nile River on Oct. 13, according to Radar Online, with Ye deciding at some point he wanted to go on a jungle safari. West had his security team take him on the safari but the team decided after the safari that West should stay with them that night in the bush and refused to let him return to his hotel.
“They told Kanye they couldn’t get a plane back and guarantee his safety,” a source told Radar.
Ye, instead, hired a local group to lead everyone back home but the security team apparently didn’t trust the new group.
“They thought these guys were gonna kidnap Kanye,” the source said. “Both sides flashed their weapons and neither side would back down.”
The standoff continued until the next morning when the locals backed down, according to Radar.
“It was a battle of wills,” the source said. “Luckily, a plane was chartered for the morning and they left without incident.”
AllHipHop News has suggested the incident may have led to West’s decision to delay the recording of the album.
