VENTURA, Calif. (CelebrityAccess) Live Nation has announced that its Clubs & Theatres division will exclusively book the Majestic Ventura Theatre in Ventura, Calif.
“Ventura and The Majestic Ventura Theater were the next logical move for us in SoCal. It is a vibrant music market with a population base that we think is underserved at the club and theatre level.” said Ben Weeden, COO of Live Nation Clubs & Theatre division. “The Theater’s team has done a great job with a beloved venue and we’re excited to be working them to help grow that property’s remarkable history.
“Live Nation brings the equity and experience to continue transforming the Majestic Ventura Theater into a national live music and special event venue,” owner Robert Antonini said. “This agreement with Live Nation will enhance concert-goers musical entertainment choices at the Majestic, while growing Ventura as a competitive music market by attracting shows that would normally bypass Ventura.
Built in 1927, the 1200-capacity Theatre was the only luxury theatre built in Ventura County in the 1920’s in the “style of the great movie palaces.”
In 1927 Ventura was a bustling oil boom town when the grand opening featured an organ solo, the latest news, Our Gang Comedy and a vaudeville act, according to a statement.
“We’ve come a long way from organ solos,” Weeden said. “Bringing great musical performers to markets we enter is something we work very hard at. The Majestic is an amazing venue with an extraordinary history. Its future is going to be even brighter.”
The Live Nation division owns, operates and books facilities like The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles and The Tabernacle in Atlanta as well as the House of Blues and Fillmore venues. The company promotes more than 15,000 shows in over 125 venues nationwide including properties in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Orlando, San Antonio and now in Ventura.
