NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Music streamer Spotify appears to be testing a feature that will allow users to block any artist on the platform from appearing in any of their playlists.
According to tech news site Thurrott, Spotify is testing the much-requested feature which blocks music from an artist on any of the streamer’s automatically curated playlists like Discover Weekly and a user’s daily mix playlists.
The blocked artist will also be excised from features such as a user’s global charts, Thurrott reported.
The new feature can be accessed from the “…” menu on an artist’s page, where users can click a ‘don’t play music from this artist’ link.
The feature is reportedly already available for some users already via Spotify’s practice of beta-testing by rolling features out to limited groups of users before being fully released. The feature is likely to be rolled out to everyone in the near future, Thurrott reported.
The decision to add a block button is a marked turnaround for Spotify, which as recently as 2017, said that it had decided against adding such a feature after “serious consideration.”
