MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — Rapper Kodak Black appears likely to stay in jail ahead of his trial on weapons charges.

According to the Associated Press, Black was due to be released on bond following his arrest in Miami earlier this month, but the Federal prosecutors successfully appealed the judge’s decision.

In a hearing in U.S. District Court on Wednesday, Judge Federico Moreno ruled that the 21-year-old rapper was a “danger to the community” based on his lengthy criminal record, the AP reported.

Black is facing multiple criminal prosecutions after he was arrested during the Rolling Loud Festival in Florida earlier this month. Prosecutors allege Black provided false information on federal forms when he purchased several firearms, including two semiautomatic pistols, and a semiautomatic Mini Draco, which is a smaller version of the famed AK-47 assault rifle, from a Miami gun store.

As well, he was arrested in April after U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents alleged to have found marijuana and firearms in a vehicle he was traveling in while attempting to cross the border from Canada into the United States.

Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, is also facing allegations that he raped a woman after a 2016 concert in North Carolina.

He is currently in custody in Miami and no trial date has been set. Prosecutors said Black could face up to eight years in prison if convicted in Florida.
