FOXBOROUGH, Mass (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers of The Super Mega Ultra Giant Mad Decent Block Party Festival, a two-day music festival planned for July 20 and 21st at Gillette Stadium, has been abruptly canceled.

A statement posted to the festival’s social media attributed the cancellation to production issues: “Unfortunately, putting this event on in the way that it was envisioned has become impossible, due to circumstances beyond our control. All parties involved have agreed that moving forward would be a disservice to fans and artists alike, and cancellation is in everyone’s best interest.”

Gillette Stadium issued a similar statement via social media, confirming the cancellation: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, The Super Mega Ultra Giant Mad Decent Block Party Festival scheduled for July 20 and 21 has been cancelled. The festival’s promoter has indicated it has become impossible to hold the event as they had envisioned.”

The festival, which was being organized by DJ and producer Diplo’s company Mad Decent, featured and EDM and hip-hop heavy lineup headlined by Major Lazer, Miguel, Dillon Francis, Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Billie Eilish, G Eazy and others.

Promoters said their ticketing provider Front Gate Tickets would process refunds for ticketholders by Friday, June 12th with up to 10 days for the refund to be reflected on the purchaser’s bank statements.

The cancellation was met with dismay by fans on social media, including some who cited costs that are unlikely to be reimbursed.
