ONTARIO, CA (CelebrityAccess) — Cabana Life Concerts’ 2nd annual Welcome To The West festival will host a special tribute to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle when it lands at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California on September 20, 2019.
Hussle, who last year headlined the inaugural edition of the festival in 2018, was slain in a shooting outside of his Los Angeles clothing store in March.
The tribute will feature footage from Nipsey’s 2018 performance at the festival, paired with live performances by special guest artists who collaborated with Hussle during his unfortunately abbreviated career.
“This will be a truly memorable and emotionally moving night honoring Los Angeles’ very own fallen hero for the light and vision he offered our City of Angels and the world,” festival producer Jason Gazzini said in a press statement.
Hussle, who was 33 years old when he died, had a violent past, including a long affiliation with the notorious Crips-affiliated gang Rollin’ 60s. However, in the latter stages of his life, he became a Grammy-nominated rapper, entrepreneur, and community activist and worked to provide avenues of opportunity and personal development for inner-city youth.
Living headliners for this year’s Welcome to the West include Ice Cube, as well as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Roddy Ricch, Dom Kennedy, DJ Quik, King Lil G, and Malaynah, among others.
