LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian Kevin Hart was involved in a car accident early Sunday morning, leaving him with “major back injuries.”
According to CBS News Los Angeles, Hart and a man identified as Jared Black were driving in Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda in Calabasas, California, when the accident occurred.
CBS reported that Black, who was driving at the time, lost control of the vehicle on a winding stretch of Mulholland Drive, leading to the car to leave the road and tumble down an embankment.
Both Hart and the driver suffered “major back injuries, the California Highway Patrol said. A third occupant, Rebecca Broxterman, received minor injuries and sought treatment independently, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to CBS, CHP determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Hart, who most recently starred in the 2018 comedy “Night School” was tapped to host the 2019 Academy Awards, but was forced to step aside after old tweets surfaced that appeared to be homophobic. Hart is scheduled to appear in the sequel Jumanji: The Next Level, which will hit theaters in December.
