NEW ORLEANS (CelebrityAccess) – A crowd stampede injured several people attending New Orleans-based festival, Lil WeezyAna Fest, organized by rapper Lil Wayne over the weekend.
According to the Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate, police say that they are unsure what caused the disturbance, but speculate that false rumors of gunfire or a fight could have prompted the panic.
While the newspaper reported fans knocked to the ground and suffering cuts, scrapes and bruises, it remains unclear how many people were injured.
A medical tent and concession stands near the stage were also reportedly overrun, while sections of fencing were knocked over, tables were overturned, and beverage booths near the main stage were damaged.
Looting was also reported with some individuals stealing from cash registers and tip jars, concession workers said.
Rapper Meek Mill was on stage at the time the commotion ensued, however, he performed through the disturbance. Travis Scott and headliner Lil Wayne later took to the stage to close out the evening.
