Organizers for the EDM-focused Creamfields Festival announced plans for a major investment in the festival grounds ahead of the 15th anniversary of the event next year.
The £2 million worth of improvements are largely based on customer feedback and are aimed at providing a “better and safer customer experience” customer experience, organizers said.
Planned upgrades include:
Improvements to security and staffing
Closed-circuit camera surveillance of parking areas
A new water supply and distribution system, including upgraded showers and restrooms, as well as new drinking water stations.
Upgraded camping facilities
More visibility for onsite welfare staff
New recycling programs
Additional cleaning and maintenance staff
The announced upgrades follow fan backlash over access to water at the festival, which this year took place on a very warm weekend in August. While the festival had multiple free water stations and distributed free bottled water, fans still complained about access to drinking water during the event.
The festival’s parking lots were also targeted by thieves this year, who left multiple vehicles stripped of parts, according to local media reports.
