ISOLA, Miss. (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian Hannibal Burress announced that he’s staging a live music and comedy festival in rural Mississipi next month, with headliners T-Pain, Flying Lotus, Open Mike Eagle, and Eryn Allen Kane among others.
“I’m having a festival December 13-15th in rural Mississippi. That’s kind of short notice but I’m good with it. Isola is short for Isolation. I know this sounds like some Fyre Festival part 2 type situation but we have things pretty much in order. Our sandwiches are just as equally trash as theirs though. Some things you just can’t control. This is the town my mother’s side of the family is from. My cousin owns a venue called Playaz Palace so I’m getting a deal on these nights. The lineup is gonna be great. T-Pain, Flying Lotus, Open Mike Eagle, Eryn Allen Kane, Serengeti, and Khris Royal are all performing. It’s going to be a great time.”
The festival will also feature surprise guests, a landlord fashion show, and a motivational speaker battle.
As to why the festival is taking place in a tiny town in Mississippi, Burress said, “My mother’s side of the family is from a small town called Isola, MS. Isola is literally short for Isolation. It’s a small town that used to be overrun by gigantic catfish but eventually humans regained power and took over. The catfish shrank to a reasonable size. Now it’s very quiet. It’s where they invented quiet.”
“A couple years ago my cousin opened a nightclub called Playaz Palace and this year we decided to have the 1st ever Isola Fest. 3 days in extremely rural Mississippi. Comedy, music, games, food, and fun. We have some crazy surprises too,” he added.
