LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Actor Jamie Lee Curtis, star of films such as Halloween, True Lies, and Knives Out, announced that she and her family are pledging $1 million to help kickstart a fund supporting the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
Curtis, who was among the Angelenos forced to evacuate due to the encroaching fires, shared her planned donation via social media on Thursday.

“This is the moment to reach out to anyone in Los Angeles who you think might be in traumatic shock or grief from losing their homes and the devastation of their neighborhoods and communities. Offer your hand, home, and resources. We are going to have to come together, as we may never have done before, in the City of Angels and help each other. AND WE WILL!” Curtis wrote in a separate post.
She also appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night, where she became emotional discussing the fires’ impacts.
“As you know, where I live is on fire right now,” she told Fallon. “Literally, the entire city of Pacific Palisades is on fire. This is where I live. Everything – the market I shop in, the schools my kids attend, friends – many, many, many friends have lost their homes.”
“It’s just a catastrophe,” she added.
Firefighters continue to battle multiple major fires in the Los Angeles region, including the devastating Palisades fire, which has burned through the wealthy seaside enclave in northwestern Los Angeles. As of Thursday afternoon, the fire had grown to more than 17,000 acres and destroyed over 1,000 buildings, according to Cal Fire.
Other fires in the region include the Eaton Fire, which expanded south from the hills into Altadena and parts of Pasadena. It grew to more than 10,000 acres, but officials stated Thursday that its spread has been “significantly stopped.”
The causes of the fires remain under investigation, according to Cal Fire.
