CA News Bites: Ace Frehley…Black Crowes…Gillian Welch…New Orleans Jazz Fest

Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley will be inducted into the Bronx Hall of Fame on Sunday, May 20. Other inductees include hip-hop artist Kris Parker (KRS-One), Latin artist Johnny Pacheco, Colin Powell, Diahann Carroll, Burt Young, author E.L. Doctorow, ex-baseball player Ed Kranepool, and the late Stanley Kubrick.

The Black Crowes were inducted into the Guitar Center RockWalk on Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles on Monday, May 14.

Gillian Welch and her partner David Rawlings have formed Acony Records, distributed by DNA. Welch is the sole artist on the label.

This year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival set a new total attendance record during its seven days of music, drawing 600,000 people. Fearing now that the music fest is getting too big, organizers are considering making changes to prevent crowds from getting too large.
