LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Michael Camacho, the head of alternative TV at the Creative Artists Agency has departed the agency, Variety is reporting.
Camacho worked on the team that helped Oprah Winfrey create a deal with Discovery Communications to launch a new network, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) which will eventually replace Discovery Health.
Camacho apparently ruffled some feathers at CAA and Winfrey's Harpo Productions when he started angling to run the network for Winfrey, Variety reported. Camacho's last day was on Feb. 1st and as of yet, there is no word on where he will land.
CAA has declined to comment on Camacho's departure. Camacho has been with CAA for 15 years, starting as a mailroom drone before moving up under Michael Ovitz before eventually becoming an agent. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
