ST. LOUIS (CelebrityAccess) — Rock relic Chuck Berry had a surprise for his fans on his 90th birthday when he announced that he was releasing his first album in 38 years.
Set to be released on Nashville's Dualtone label next year, details about the album are few, but a statement released by the label said it will consist mostly of new material written and produced by Berry and recorded in his hometown of St. Louis.
A statement released by Berry gently implied that the album may be his last and dedicated the effort to his wife Thelmetta.
“This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy,” Berry said in his statement. “My darlin’ I’m growing old! I’ve worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!”
