CCE Launches Web Site To Promote New Artists

In an effort to help discover new talent and provide wider exposure to up-and-coming artists, Clear Channel Worldwide has launched a web site that will promote new artists.

Clear Channel will use the combined efforts of its radio, television, outdoor advertising and entertainment divisions to promote the service which will be free to artists who register their work.

"New music and new talent are the lifeblood of our business, so we are thrilled to provide an outlet for more artists than ever to get their work heard by the interested public," says Clear Channel president/COO Mark Mays.

"The New Music Network will give even more artists the exposure they desire and will provide consumers with all kinds of new musical choices," adds Gerry Cagle, president of the New Music Network.

Clear Channel is hoping that the new site will build on the success of the A&R Network, its one-year-old pilot program that was created as an online artist development tool to showcases unsigned talent from around the world.

Clear Channel also has future plans for an Internet radio channel devoted solely to new music. The web site address is http://www.ClearChannelNEWmusicNetwork.com.

Clear Channel, headquartered in San Antonio, is the nation's largest owner and operator of radio stations, one of the largest outdoor advertising company and one of the largest promoters of concerts and entertainment venues.

CCC Partnership Tests New Medium For Motion Picture Marketing

Clear Channel Communications is partnering with several West Coast companies to test a new medium for marketing motion pictures. The new system broadcasts promotional messages that display on car radio display screens using a patent-pending technology called dynamic radio data service, belonging to Clear Channel partner drama Networks Inc. The companies used the new service to promote the summer movie "XXX" starring Vin Diesel in the Los Angeles area with the support of Revolution Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Clear Channel ran the promotional messages on all of its five major Los Angeles-area radio stations from July 31 through August 16. It was the first time the new medium has been used as part of a film's marketing campaign. "We see (this new medium) as an innovative and cost-effective way to reach consumers in a captive environment in their cars," says Terry Curtain, head of marketing and distribution for Revolution Studios, told American City Business Journals.
