Club Owner Mitchell Stewart Dies


LONG BEACH, CA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Club owner Mitchell Stewart, the man behind Long Beach's popular club, Vault 350 has died at the age of 48 due to a heart attack.

Stewart was an active participant in the Long Beach business community and played a major part in revitalizing the downtown area of the city. In addition to Vault 350, Stewart had been working on opening a new venue, the Backstage Jazz Club next door to the vault. Stewart and his wife/business partner Nurit also launched a mortgage bank and own the Malibu Inn in Malibu, California.

Born in Louisiana, Stewart was raised in Illinois and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He spent some time working on Wall Street before starting a his mortgage bank in Long Beach.

"He was one of those individuals you knew who could achieve things. I could just imagine what he would have achieved if he had lived a long life." Thomas Fields, Long Beach Redevelopment Agency chairman and business associate of Stewart told the Press-Telegram.

Stewart is survived by his wife Nurit and four children, mother, brother and two sisters. Funerary arrangements are private at the request of the family but they have asked that donations be made to the Fred Jordan Mission in lieu of flowers. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
