Country Singer Jailed For Contempt

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Country singer Doug Stone is serving a six-month sentence at the Robertson County Jail in Tennessee for criminal and civil contempt of court, according to The Tennessean.

“He refused to sign authorization for release of financial records,” a Robertson County Sheriff’s office spokesman told the paper.

Stone, 49, started his sentence on September 28th, and will serve the full term.

The singer was involved in a child support and alimony case in Robertson County Circuit Court, according to officials.

A Georgia native, Stone got his big break in country music in 1990 when his song “I’d Be Better Off (In A Pine Box)” landed in the top 5 on the country charts.

He suffered a heart attack in 1995, and was nearly killed in a plane crash two years later. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
