Danny Goldberg To Start New Record Label

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Cameron Strang, president of New West Records, and industry veteran Danny Goldberg have teamed to create a new independent record label, Ammal Records. Goldberg will head the label and be the creative force behind the new venture. Ammal will have its office and staff in New York and will provide A&R functions as well as contribute to the marketing and promotional efforts of its releases. New West will provide promotions and marketing. Distribution will be handled by New West's long time distributor, RED distribution.

Goldberg is in discussions with a number of artists and hopes to announce his first signing in the near future.

“Danny has always been an advocate of great artists and their music," said Strang. "I admire his blend of entrepreneurial spirit and passion for the music business. When you combine all that with his years of experience, his relationships and his reputation, you have a very unique individual. There are only a handful of people we would enter into a venture like this with and Danny is one of them. It is a real team effort. The music business is changing, and on the indie side there are great opportunities. At New West, we have built a dynamic label. The addition of Danny Goldberg and Ammal is another exciting step forward in this new phase of growth for New West."

"I have long admired New West both for the quality of its artists, the creative culture, and for the tenacious and effective efforts the company makes to maximize record sale," said Goldberg. "The prospect of working closely with Cameron and with the New West staff feels a lot like coming home."

Goldberg also recently formed Gold Village Entertainment, a company that will be involved in all aspects of the music industry beginning with personal management. His first clients are Steve Earle and Allison Moorer; Earle previously signed with New West Records.
