The du Maurier Atlantic Jazz Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia has confirmed the line-up for its upcoming 15th installment, July 6-14, with some of the jazz world's leading players. Among them are: Roy Hargrove, Joe Morello, John Pizzarelli Trio, Omar Sosa, Claudia Acuña, Andrew Downing, Kevin Turcotte, Daniel Oore, Freedom Jazz Band Mother of Pearl, Carson Downey, Roy Hargrove Quintet, Havana Sax with Jeff Goodspeed Eric Allen, Mother of Pearl, Los Flamencos and others.
A new addition to this year's festival is the Jazz in the Cinema Series, July 7-14. Launched in collaboration with Empire Theatres, films to be screened include Buena Vista Social Club, Mo¹ Better Blues, Straight No Chaser, Bird, Round Midnight and Sweet and Lowdown.
Another addition is a Monday-Friday lunchtime series in downtown Halifax. The Templeton Box Lunch Program will run from noon until to 2 p.m. in the open-air Ondaatje Court at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and will feature two performances daily by both visiting and local artists.
