Folk Alliance 2011 Extends Registration Deadline


MEMPHIS, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Folk Alliance International has announced a deadline extension for registration for upcoming 23rd annual Folk Alliance Conference, which is set to be held from February 16th-20th at the Downtown Memphis Marriott.

Folk Alliance Members can still take advantage of the $325 rate until Thursday, January 19th and conference attendees can still book their stay at the Downtown Memphis Marriot at the discounted rate of $141 per night through this Saturday, January 15th.

This year, Folk Alliance will welcome the PBS television music series Jammin at Hippie Jack’s to the 23rd annual International Folk Alliance Conference. Jammin at Hippie Jack’s celebrates and preserves the work of Americana singers, songwriters, and musicians. Their public television music series is broadcast to over 70 million people in over 150 PBS markets throughout North America. Jammin at Hippie Jack’s will be taping various performances for their upcoming season while at the conference including artists such as The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Paul Thorn and conference Keynote Speaker, Dave Bromberg.

Making a return this year, will be Sirius XM Radio, who will be broadcasting live from the conference and featuring performances by by Over The Rhine, Sam Baker, Abigail Washburn, Suzy Bogguss and many more. XM 15 will also cover the annual awards and lifetime achievement presentation show that helps to kick of the conference each year.

NPR radio show Beale Street Caravan will be capturing the Blues and Sacred Steel shows all conference weekend long at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, adjacent to the Downtown Memphis Marriott. Beale Street Caravan, the most widely distributed Blues radio program in the world, attracts more than 2.4 million listeners each week. Produced in Memphis, Beale Street Caravan covers the world with the heartfelt sounds and colorful stories of the Blues and its music makers. These shows are open to the public.
